With a new app developed by Metria, timber buyers at Sydved get reliable information about the forest, directly in the field. The app includes map services, risk indexes for bark beetles and forestry plans that give timber buyers a good basis for measures to recommend to forest owners.
The timber buyer helps forest owners with advice and support
Sydved buys timber from forest owners in southern Sweden and offers full forestry services and advice. Sydved's timber buyers work throughout the chain, from initial contact to felling and completion of the contract. A large part of the work takes place in the field where forest owners receive advice and support. Appropriate measures for the forest in question are planned together with the forest owner and may, for example, involve regeneration felling, clearing, planting or soil preparation. Access to up-to-date information about the forest, such as environmental data, forest management plans, property maps and other forestry information, is a prerequisite for making the right decisions.
The app improves service to forest owners
On behalf of Sydved, Metria has developed a mobile app that will facilitate the everyday work of the timber buyer. The mobile app went live in February 2021.
- "The app provides our timber buyers with reliable information, both forestry data and operational data," says Anders Ehrenström, Forestry Developer, Sydved, and continues:
- "It enables them to act as advisors to forest owners and make informed decisions about what actions to take.
A data supply that covers information needs
The app provides timber buyers with relevant and reliable information for meetings with forest owners. The app provides access to, among other things
- continuously updated map services such as orthophotos, bark beetle risk index and protected areas
- property information
- forest management plans for Sydved's customers
Integrated in the CRM system
The app is integrated with Sydved's CRM system, which gives the timber buyer up-to-date information about the forest owner they are meeting. In addition, there is a case management to handle ongoing and planned assignments. Of course, the map services can also be taken offline.
Focus on user-friendliness
The app is developed using modern cross-platform technology, which means that the solution is compatible with both iOS and Android for phones and tablets.
- We have developed the app with a strong focus on user-friendliness. The user should easily get started and with as few clicks as possible navigate between the various functions of the solution," says Jonny Siikavara, Product Manager Metria.
