International Biodiversity Day - it is clear that climate change puts pressure on biodiversity and affects the conditions for biodiversity. Metria sees clear evidence of a reverse effect where well-functioning ecosystems and high biodiversity act as resilience to climate change.
Society and business depend on biodiversity and over the next decade, continued biodiversity loss is expected to be one of the greatest threats to the global economy. This is therefore an issue that concerns the entire Swedish business community. Virtually all industries will need to act on the issue, with new information and tools that they have not previously had to deal with as necessary means forward.
Metria provides authorities and companies with data on Sweden's nature and environment. With this data, we can conduct geographical analyses aimed at preserving, restoring and ensuring sustainable use of ecosystems, protecting biodiversity and natural habitats, and preserving coastal and marine areas.
Today, May 22, we at Metria would like to draw attention to the International Day for Biological Diversity. The day has been established by the United Nations to recognize the importance of biodiversity for life on Earth.

Att klimatet sätter ett tryck på biodiversiteten och påverkar förutsättningar för biologisk mångfald är den uppenbara tolkningen av problemet men vi ser också tydliga bevis på en omvänd effekt där välfungerande ekosystem och hög biodiversitet agerar motståndskraft emot klimatförändringarna. Detta både när det kommer till att sänka deras effekt, som exempelvis effektiva kolsänkor, men också att lindra effekter från klimatförändringar med att i vissa fall kunna erbjuda ökat skydd mot extremväder såsom mangroveskogar nära kuster.
