Climate change, resource scarcity and increased sustainability requirements mean that companies and authorities need better decision-making data than ever. Using geographic information, advanced data analysis and innovative solutions, Metria helps its customers reduce environmental impact, achieve sustainability goals and create long-term value - for both businesses and society at large.
Efficient use of resources with advanced technology
Metria are experts in geographic information and by analyzing and combining large amounts of data from different sources, we create unique information that supports our customers. We offer both data and ready-made services that our customers use, for example, to understand and manage their challenges, identify areas at risk, plan and implement projects more efficiently or as a basis for decisions and follow-up. With the support of our services, customers can use their own resources effectively.
Metria services with a focus on climate and environment
Several of Metria's services have a strong focus on climate, environment and sustainability.
Metria Environmental Check monitors and analyzes environmental data, such as groundwater levels and air quality, helping our customers to identify and manage environmental risks at an early stage. The service was used, for example, to monitor groundwater levels in connection with the expansion of the Stockholm metro system to ensure that buildings and roads are safe.
Metria Climate Analysis offers a comprehensive analysis of climate risks at the property level. By combining data from various sources with Metria's own analysis, the service can identify risks such as flooding, fire spread, landslides and erosion. The service helps property owners and other stakeholders to get a quick overview of the physical risks a property is exposed to and to identify areas where further analysis should be done. The service can also be used by banks and financial institutions to support sustainable investment and lending decisions as it provides the insight needed to assess climate-related risks. This allows investments to be made in a way that minimizes negative environmental impacts and promotes long-term sustainability.
Metria Markkoll is a digital planning support that simplifies work with rights of way, land agreements and infrastructure projects. By efficiently managing permits and land information, the service contributes to reduced land encroachment and environmental impact.
Metria Forest Analysis supports sustainable forestry by mapping forest conditions, biomass, growth and environmental values using satellite data and AI. This contributes to increased biodiversity and improved management strategies.
Metria also offers consulting services in GIS and remote sensing, including customized, unique analyses in the climate and environmental field that provide high-quality data and decision support. The amount of information is exploding with increasing amounts of open data and more satellites, which enables more analyses while placing increasing demands on review and quality assurance. Using AI and machine learning, we analyze large amounts of data to produce relevant information for specific purposes while our expertise ensures high quality in our deliveries. With market-leading expertise in remote sensing, deep knowledge in AI and automated analysis combined with knowledge of nature and the environment, we create value for our customers in areas such as nature conservation and management, action planning, wetland restoration, biodiversity, environmental monitoring and risk management.
Collaboration that creates value
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is one of Metria's largest customers and an important collaboration partner. Metria builds systems, produces data and performs analyses that the Swedish EPA needs in its daily work. Our IT support is used by the Environmental Protection Agency's administrators, including in the process of protecting and managing valuable nature in Sweden.
Metria is responsible for the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's map tool Protected nature, which shows all national parks, nature reserves and other protected areas. The map tool is a support for anyone working with nature conservation issues or planning of land and water in Sweden.
On behalf of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, Metria produces National Land Cover Data, NMD, which is a mapping of Sweden with the aim of obtaining basic information about the landscape and how it is changing. Land cover mapping is an important basis for work on biodiversity, sustainable land use, ecosystem services, urban development and planning, and climate and vulnerability, and NMD is widely used by authorities, municipalities and companies. Metria also carries out mapping for the Natura Naturtypskartan (NNK ), which describes the actual distribution of habitat types included in the Habitats Directive within protected areas. In addition, Metria continuously supports the Swedish EPA with GIS analysis, expert support, training, modeling and visualization based on geographic information.
A strong strategic partnership between Metria and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has paved the way for continued efficiency and innovation that benefits both Metria and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, something that also benefits our other customers.
An investment in the future
Metria's expertise in geographic data, environment and climate creates great value for our customers and contributes to sustainable development. The future is digital and sustainable, we create it together.
