With Metria's help, Stora Enso has developed an app where forest owners can access their forest management plan directly on their phone or tablet.

Stora Enso has long and solid experience of advanced forestry. Every year they plant more than 20,000 hectares and clear and thin more than 100,000 hectares. Stora Enso Skog manages forest properties of varying sizes, from small privately owned forests to parts of Bergvik Skog, one of Europe's largest private landowners.

Equipped to help our customers

We need to be equipped to help our customers in all aspects of managing their forests. Here, Metria plays an important role for us to succeed," says Jonas Hedén, Business Support at Stora Enso Skog. To make things easier for its customers, Stora Enso Skog uses the app developed by Metria. An app where forest owners can access their forest management plan directly on their phone or tablet.

Forest management plan on your phone

- The forest management plan is the most important tool an active forest owner has. With the help of the plan, it becomes clear what measures need to be carried out. With the app in their phone or tablet, forest owners can quickly and easily take a picture of their forest property and their forest stands directly into the forest. Says Jonas Hedén, Business Support at Stora Enso Skog.

"The app also contains, for example, soil moisture maps that make it possible to interpret the bearing capacity of the soil.

- This information allows us to work with the environment in mind. Metria helps us to harvest many millions of cubic meters a year without harming the environment. Metria helps us to tread lightly," says Jonas Hedén.

Enter performed and planned measures

The app has many advantages. Among other things, it is easy to enter different types of performed and planned measures such as clearing, felling, planting, etc. With the GPS function, it is easy to find your way in the forest and the user can easily add different symbols and text information to the map. In this way, several users get the same picture of what has been done, where and when. The function also makes it possible to conduct forestry in the field, something that was not as easy before.

Less time on administration

With Metria's app, Stora Enso Skog spends less time on administration and more time on its customers.
- "The collaboration with Metria allows us to focus on what we do best, i.e. our customers' forestry," says Jonas Hedén.

Operational reliability is business-critical

Since Stora Enso Skog has built its internal systems based on the map systems that Metria helps them produce, operational reliability is absolutely business-critical.

- "Metria offers high reliability, deep expertise and a good understanding of our business. Of course, it is crucial that they are a leader in geographic information, and Metria's understanding of how we can use the information makes them a strategically important supplier. We have worked with Metria for about ten years and over the years they have been a great support in streamlining our own routines and processes, says Jonas Hedén.
