We are looking for an environmental and nature expert for our GIS and remote sensing group in Stockholm

The group consists of about twenty experts who work to carry out advanced, customized geographical analyses and mapping on behalf of various customers and for Metria's products. We have a focus on nature and the environment and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is our largest customer. Most projects are carried out in close dialog with our customers and we are committed to maintaining high quality and adapting deliveries to each customer's needs.

Our work is based on geographical data such as orthophotos, satellite images and laser data.

Your tasks
You will initially focus a lot on the Natura Nature Type Map, NNK, which we produce on behalf of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. NNK describes the distribution of the natural habitat types included in the Species and Habitats Directive within protected areas and is used, among other things, as a basis for management, management, monitoring, reporting and statistics of protected areas. The mapping is mainly done through interpretation of orthophotos and GIS analysis. Metria is also responsible for providing expert support and training to users at County Administrative Boards.

Over time, you will also be involved in other projects and assignments in the field of nature and the environment. One area that is currently very topical is the EU's Nature Restoration Regulation (NRF), which places high demands on data collection, reporting and follow-up of implemented measures.

We offer the opportunity to work in new fresh premises on Kungsholmen in Stockholm, with all the benefits it can have in terms of social contacts, creativity, skills transfer and good working environment, as well as the opportunity to work remotely a few days a week.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for you who have an M.Sc. in, for example, ecology, biology or similar with knowledge of Swedish species, habitats and ecological processes as well as experience in using GIS.

You have an interest in how geographical data can contribute to work with nature and the environment and want to use your skills to carry out mapping and analysis in dialog with colleagues and customers, which then become important decision-making bases.

We are looking for you who have work experience, are confident in your skills and who drive your work forward in an efficient and independent way. As a person, you are proactive, flexible and responsive. You are quality conscious and act in a service-oriented and businesslike manner in contact with both customers and colleagues.

Other meritorious skills are work with biological data at landscape scale, experience of ecological inventories and environmental assessments, image interpretation of habitats and experience of project management.

Application process
Metria is looking for committed and skilled employees who know their field. We place great emphasis on your personality and how your experience and knowledge can complement us in the GIS and remote sensing group at Metria.
